Daryl Hall has ruled out reuniting with former Hall & Oates bandmate John Oates.
The pair have been a loggerheads, having been embroiled in a legal battle, which saw Hall announce that he was suing Oates over claims that he was left "blindsided" by Oates' plans to sell a business stake in 2023. These claims were dismissed by Oates as "inaccurate".
Hall alleged that Oates made a "completely clandestine and bad faith move", in trying to sell a share of the company without Hall's permission. More on this from Nova here.
In a new interview, Daryl Hall has said that this incident was “the ultimate partnership betrayal”, while insisting that the pair's partnership has ceased for good.
“That ship has gone to the bottom of the ocean", Hall said when asked about the possibility of the pair patching things up.
Hall continued: “I’ve had a lot of surprises in my life, disappointments, betrayals, so I’m kind of used to it.” The ‘Out Of Touch’ singer also added: “I’ve been involved with some pretty shady characters over the years. That’s where the problems start".
Elsewhere, Daryll Hall also added that he feels frustrated that his songwriting for the pair has been overshadowed.
“The songs with his lead vocal are the songs he wrote, and all the other ones, which is about 90 per cent, are the ones I wrote", stated Hall. He added that this was “very frustrating”.
Hall is currently working with Eurthymics bandmember and producer Dave Stewart, and he declared that this partnership is more "meaningful" to him that what he had with Oates.
“[Dave is] a whirlwind. Witty and amusing, for sure. Also manic. He never stops,” he explained. Comparing the two partnerships, he went on to say: “It’s more meaningful, a real collaborative relationship — and it’s based on maturity".
