The Foos frontman has admitted in a recent interview who he’d like to play the rocker in a film. Only die-hard fans will instantly know his choice. Grohl picked a star of the legendary horror flick The Shining. Although Grohl didn't go for Jack Nicholson.
According to KLOS 95.5, via NME, Grohl instantly picked Shelley Duvall, who plays the hysterical wife imprisoned in a secluded and mysterious hotel in the iconic Stanley Kubrick film. Grohl explained,
“I’m going for Shelley Duvall. Like, look at Shelley Duvall from The Shining. She’s like,’Get Away From Me! Get Away From Me!’. Like, that’s me. That’s totally me. Grohl then nominated Foo Fighters skinner Taylor Hawkins to be played by Shelley Duvall’s partner in the movie Jack Nicholson. I don’t know,” Hawkins replied unsure before adding,. “Won’t they be dead? I don’t mean that!”
Grohl has often received comparisons to Shelley Duvall by fans of the Foos lead singer and has embraced the similarities in the past. There are presently no official plans for a Foo Fighters film.
