Dave Rowntree has hinted that Blur may not be finished just yet, despite the band appearing to announce that they had played their last ever show.

Earlier this Summer, Blur had performed at the Coachella Festival where lead singer Damon Albarn told the audience that “this is probably our last gig”.

“In the spirit of clarity and truth, this is probably our last gig”, Albarn told the audience at the time.

“It is time to wrap up this campaign,” he added. “It’s too much for me. It was the right thing to do and an immense honour to play these songs again, spend time with these guys, make an album, blah-blah-blah”.

“very hard to say no to”

But now, in a recent interview with the Daily Star’s Wired column, Blur drummer Dave Rowntree who failed in his recent bid to become a Labour MP, hinted at renewed hope that the band might not be just finished yet.

“There’s still tons of stuff we could do,” Rowntree stated. “It’s about finding an offer that’s very hard to say no to”.

“When we first got back together in 2009, we were very happy to be the first people to play what has become the British Summer Time festival at Hyde Park. Then we were asked to headline the party to end the 2012 Olympics, and you can’t say no to that”.

“So there’s absolutely no reason why we couldn’t consider another interesting idea, if we’re all available,” he added. “But there’s absolutely nothing in the diary for Blur at the moment”.

This comes ahead of the release of two new films about Blur.

Blur: Live At Wembley which focuses on the band’s shows at the London stadium last Summer, arrives on September 6.

Last week also saw the release of Blur: To The End, which reflected on the eight years that the band had spent apart.

Ahead of that comeback show, Blur’s Alex James also admitted that he thought the band might “never happen again”.
