David Bowie's musical 'Lazarus' is to premiere in London's King Cross Theatre this October. The production which opened in New York last year was one of Bowie's last artistic projects and sold out in record breaking time.

The musical,  inspired by Walter Trevis' novel, 'The Man Who Fell To Earth', tells the story of Thomas Newton, an extraterrestrial whose journey to Earth comes with complications. 'Lazarus', co-written by Bowie and award winning Irish playwright Enda Walsh, seeks to act as a sequel to the book which inspired it's plot.  Full casting is yet to be announced but Michael C Hall of crime drama 'Dexter' will retain the lead role while Michael Esper and Sophia Anne Caruso will return as Valentine and Girl. Ivan Van Hove will direct the production and Henry Hey will lead the music direction.

Bowie made his last public appearance at the opening night of the musical when it received mixed reviews. The Guardian labelled it "unapologetically weird" while Rolling Stone claimed "the plot is coherent, the songs are great and the performances are kinetic." In 2000, Bowie told Jeremy Paxman of his desire to write musicals, "When I was a teenager I had it in my mind that I would be a creator of musicals for the West End and Broadway."

The musical will open at the 1000 seat- tent threatre, Kings Cross Theatre between October 25th 2016 and January 21st 2017. Tickets from £15 are available here
