The dog that was abandoned at Dublin Airport over the bank holiday weekend has yet to be reclaimed.

Izzy, a lovely German shepherd, was spotted by airport staff locked inside a parked car. Airport Police and Gardaí worked together to retrieve the dog from the vehicle before sending Izzy to Dublin County Dog Shelter on Saturday

On arrival she [Izzy] was wearing a harness and collar with a tag displaying a UK number attached. We checked her chip and she was registered to an address in the UK, with a matching phone number to her tag.” the shelter said in a post made to their Facebook page.

The shelter has made numerous attempts to contact Izzy’s owners but have not received a response.

“We are hoping there is a reasonable explanation for this, however right now it appears that she has been left behind,” the post reads. “We don’t know the circumstances so we are pleading, if you know or are Izzy’s owner, please get in contact with us to let us know what happened.”

There is currently no signs that Izzy was abused or mistreated. The shelter describe her as “a very friendly girl, good with other dogs and is toilet trained. She is in good condition too so it appears she was well looked after.”

Dublin County Dog Shelter are hoping to reunite Izzy with her owners. Although if they do not come forward, she will be put up for adoption once completing her “stray days”.

“If you would like to apply to adopt Izzy once her stray days are up, please contact us on 087 391 4008, WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram.”
