A second man has been arrested in relation to an assault on two Gardai in Dublin over the weekend.

Gardaí suspect a missing child may have died before his disappearance was reported in August.

Kyran Durnin from Drogheda, was reported missing to Gardaí on the 30th August.

They were told the boys was last seen two days earlier.

However investigating Gardai now suspect that the 8-year-old might not have been seen for some time before that.

Investigators have yet to locate any remains and the last date on which Kyran was seen alive remains unclear.

The upgrading of the case to a murder inquiry, which is very rare in missing person’s cases, will see significantly more Garda resources assigned to the inquiry.
