Bob Dylan's made history once again, this time with his guitar.

The Fender Stratocaster that he famously plugged in at the 1965 Newport Folk Festiva has been sold at auction for almost three quarters of a million euro.

The gig, in 1965, is seen as the beginning of Dylan's electric career that changed the face of folk music forever.

Christie's auction house had expected the guitar to for for around $300,000 to $500,000 yesterday, but it actually sold for $965,000, or €704, 092.

The sunburst-finish Fender was bought by a private buyer, who also gets the original black leather strap and hard-shell case - bargain!

It's a record-breaking price ever paid for such an item, after 'Blackie' - Eric Clapton's Fender - sold at auction for $959,500 nearly ten years ago.
