Elton John could be on his way to achieving EGOT status, after being nominated for the 75th Emmy Awards.
The music legend who recently signed off on his 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' Tour last weekend, received the nod for his livestream Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium, which was nominated for Outstanding Variety Special.
The show itself, showcases Elton John's final North American Show, as part of this tour, becoming the first Disney+ show to receive a nomination.
It was livestreamed at Disney+. More on this here.
Should Elton John be successful and win this award, he would become the 19th person to secure EGOT status (winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar & Tony Awards).
Following his Emmy nomination, Elton John also released this statement.
“It’s an honour for my Special to be recognized by the Academy. My final Dodger Stadium performance was bittersweet and an evening that I will never forget", he said.
Elton John won his first Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal in 1986, for his collaboration with Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder and Dionne Warwick. The trio released the track 'That's What Friends Are For'.
1994 saw him pick up an Oscar for the Lion King's 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight'. He also won an Tony Award for his Aida score in 2000.
Having just finished off his farewell tour, Elton John also admitted that he is still coming to terms with that part of his career finishing.
His tour also saw him break BBC viewing records, thanks to his Glastonbury set.
