Elton John has said that he feels "unbelievably lucky" as he celebrates his 75th birthday.

The music icon has also revealed that he will release the album Diamonds: The Ultimate Greatest Hits to mark this special occasion. This album will be released on streaming platforms and mixed with Dolby Atmos for the first time.

John has said that he intents to continue "giving back to the industry that has given me so much".

"such a milestone birthday"

Elton John has revealed that turning 75 has prompted him to reflect on his life.

"I’m not usually one to look back or get nostalgic, but 75 is such a milestone birthday", he said. "I’ll definitely find time today to take stock and thank my lucky stars for my wonderful family, friends and career".

"I feel unbelievably lucky that at 75 I still love what I do so much – I’m still so energised about music and excited I get to play, listen and talk about this every single day"

"Being back on the road is a blast and the thrill of playing live is as amazing as it was 50 years ago".

"I have so much to pass on to the new generation of fans and artists alike, and I’m determined to keep giving back to the industry that has given me so much".

"super some of the most vulnerable people"

This weekend will also mark 30 years since Elton John set up his Elton John Aids Foundation. The 30th Annual Awards ceremony for the foundation will take place this weekend, and will be hosted by Elton's husband David Furnish.

The event will be attended by singer and author Brandi Carlile, and singer Lady Gaga. While Will and Grace star Eric McCormack and Billy Porter will also attend.

Last month, Elton John also spoke out about the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. He share a photo of a Ukraine flag on his Instagram account. More on this from Nova here.

Elton John is coming to Ireland this Summer as part of his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour". He will perform live in Cork's Pairc Uí Chaoimh on July 1. He will also hit Dublin's 3Arena on March 28 and 29 next year.
