Elton John has recently lauded Fontaines D.C, calling them the “best band out there at the moment”.
The music icon made this claim as Fontaines D.C appeared on his show, Rocket Hour via Apple Music, where he interviewed their frontman Grian Chatten.
This comes as Fontaines D.C also released their latest album, ‘Romance’ last month, which was supported with a live show at London’s Electric Ballroom.
‘Romance’ was the band’s first release under their new record label, XL Records. More on this from Nova here.
Elton John Calls Fontaines D.C “the best”
Fontaines D.C have now come in for praise from Elton John, who called them “the best band out there at the moment”.
“For me, you’re the best band out there at the moment”, Elton said in his introduction of the group on his show.
“Having watched you at Glastonbury, having heard the new album, you’ve just grown every album”, he told Chatten. “You seem to have found your feet with this album in such a big way…it’s a brilliant record”.
He also added: “I think this album takes you – and I’ve been around for a long time – to a different level, and it’s going to stay around for a long, long time. But what’s more important about it: the music is really, really, really special. Congratulations on everything, Grian. It’s bloody wonderful”.
Earlier this month, Elton John spoke about a recent “distressing” eye infection, which left him partially blind in one eye.
“What’s happened with my eye has been very distressing,” he explained. “Because I’m used to getting out in the morning, looking at all the newspapers, looking at the charts, looking at everything, how the world is doing creatively. And I’ve lost that for the time being”.
However, Elton remained optimistic about his recovery from this eye issue. More on this here.
