Elton John is to reportedly release a “surprise” new album in the next few weeks.
The music legend finished up his Farewell Tour last July in Stockholm, Sweden, confirming plans to retire from touring, in order to spend more time with his family, including husband David Furnish, and children Zachary and Elijah.
However a few months ago, Elton insisted that despite finishing with touring, he said that he still has a few irons in the fire, including a “top secret” new album.
“It’s all been very top secret but Elton is back in the studio working on a new album”, a source told The Sun Newspaper. “He adores music and that will never change but the desire to be as busy as he was has waned”.
Elton John Album To “surprise” and “excite” People
Speaking at ‘The Other Songs Live’, Elton John’s co-writer Bernie Taupin has said that his colleague’s new album is “done”.
“Elton and I have an album coming out very soon, but I daren’t say anything about it because I’m under strict orders to keep schtum. It’s all done and recorded”, he revealed.
Taupin also stated that this album will “surprise” and “excite” people.
“I think it’s quite brilliant and quite contemporary and it will certainly surprise a lot of people and excite a lot of people and hopefully be successful”, he said.
Elsewhere, Elton John’s farewell tour also saw the singer retire from performing live, after more than half a century in the business, with a live stream from the North American leg of this tour earning him his first Emmy Award, and with it EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar & Tony) status.
