Elton John is selling a number of art pieces, luxury goods and furniture under the hammer, auction house Christie’s have confirmed.
This special ‘Goodbye Peachtree Road’ collection is expected to fetch at least $10 million at this auction, which opened last Friday.
Such items include 1970s photographs of Elton John, Louis Vuitton luggage, a Versace, a pinball machine, and a Yamaha Conservatory grand piano among others.
Other items going under the hammer also include a 1990 Bentley from the singer’s 13,500 square-foot Atlanta condo, which he sold last October for $7 million.
The most expensive piece according to Christie’s is Elton John’s Banksy work “Flower Thrower Triptych”, with bidding expected to fall between $1 million and $1.5 million.
Bidding for these items begins on February 21.
Elton “hope it finds a good home”
Speaking about the auction, Elton John had this to say.
“If you buy anything at the sale, just remember that it is going from one incredibly eager collector who has so much pleasure out of what you are going to buy, and I hope it finds a good home”, the ‘Rocketman’ singer said.
This auction even includes an entire rack filled with Versace t shirts, and touring costumes. These items are expected to sell for several thousand dollars each.
Elsewhere, Elton John also admitted that letting go of hundreds of personal items from his home in Atlanta was difficult.
“I’m afraid I’m not a minimalist,” John explained. “It was a bit of a nightmare to clean and a bit of a nightmare to know where everything was”.
