Enterprise Ireland has unveiled a bold five-year strategy aimed at boosting jobs and exports, setting ambitious targets to drive Irish businesses forward.

By 2029, the agency hopes to see 40,500 new jobs created, bringing total employment in supported companies to 275,000. It also aims to push exports up to €50 billion, building on the €34 billion recorded in 2023.

The plan, Delivering for Ireland, Leading Globally, includes backing 1,000 new start-ups and creating 1,700 Irish-owned exporters. Enterprise Ireland, which supports over 4,000 Irish businesses, wants to help local companies scale up and play a bigger role in driving the economy.

Despite global challenges like tariffs and trade wars, the agency is optimistic about the resilience of Irish firms. Interim CEO Kevin Sherry said the strong job and export numbers provide a solid foundation for the strategy’s ambitious goals.

Minister for Enterprise Peter Burke is confident the plan will keep Ireland ahead of the curve, ensuring businesses stay competitive on the world stage.
