Blue Monday beckons and with it comes the realisation of the futility of existence as it strikes at the very heart of 'new year - new hope' with the advent of ''the most depressing day of the year''. (January 16th)
Researchers say the third week in January is when we all reach a nadir.... with the bleak conditions and dark (still) evenings, while people are flat broke having not being been paid in weeks... and the chance of a break from your unfulfilling job remains way off.
It is also said to be the time motivation wanes, and New Year’s resolutions start failing.
Blue Monday was originally the concept of Dr Cliff Arnall, a tutor at Cardiff University’s Centre for Lifelong Learning, in 2005.
He calculated it using a series of factors, such as days since last pay day, days until the next Bank Holiday, average temperature, hours of daylight and numbers of nights in.
With this in mind, Swiss chocolatiers Lindt have decided to buck the rank depression by putting a smile on the faces of Dublin commuters with a little red LINDOR bliss on Blue Monday!
The world-famous Swiss chocolate brand will be in Connolly Station in Dublin on Blue Monday handing out FREE LINDOR treat bars of chocolate to give the public a little pep in their step!
Keep an eye out for these free bars of delicious LINDOR chocolate between 7.30am and 12pm – what more could you want other than a lottery win!
