Sony Pictures has announced the cast of The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, directed by Sam Mendes.
Harris Dickinson (John Lennon), Paul Mescal (Paul McCartney), Barry Keoghan (Ringo Starr) and Joseph Quinn (George Harrison) were formally introduced by the director during a surprise appearance at CinemaCon, the annual international convention for theatre owners and studios, on Monday.
Sony has also shared a cast photo of the Fab Four together.
"The Beatles changed my understanding of music. Pretty much, they made up my first memories," Mendes said.
He also revealed that all four films – which will be in production over the course of a year – will come out in April 2028, calling it "the first binge-able theatrical experience."
On stage at CinemaCon, the four men reportedly recited a line each from The Beatles' 1967 song 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' before giving a Beatles-esque bow to the crowd of movie theatre industry representatives assembled.
Mendes’ Beatles project was announced back in February, with the director revealing he planned to make four separate films, one for each member of the group. It's the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles have granted a studio the rights to the life stories of band members and their legendary catalogue of music.
