Dublin - Stabbing Victim - Quham Babatunde

A man in his 20s has become the fifth person to be arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of Quham Babatunde in Dublin two weeks ago.

It comes as a fourth man, 23-year-old Sean Forde from Balbriggan, was charged in court today with violent disorder over what Gardaí described as a “completely unprovoked attack” that led to Mr Babatunde’s death.

The court heard that Forde and his friends had been socialising in a VIP booth at a nightclub on Valentine’s night before the violence erupted on South Anne Street in the early hours of February 15th.

Garda Will McCarthy told the judge that Forde’s associates started a fight, and after seeing the brawl unfold, Forde allegedly joined in—punching Mr Babatunde as he reeled from being stabbed.

The victim was then set upon and brutally assaulted by Forde’s associates, before suffering the fatal stab wound.

Forde was denied bail and has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance.

So far, one man has been charged with murder, while two others are before the courts on related charges. Now, with a fifth man in custody, the investigation into Mr Babatunde’s killing continues.
