Prime Video has revealed the official trailer for it’s new Irish Original comedy series, LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland, ahead of the series global launch on 19th January 2024.
As previously reported here, the show’s host Graham Norton oversees 10 comedic stars, brought together to make each other laugh by using every unpredictable comedic tool in the box … without cracking a smile themselves. As the clock counts down and the tension rises, whoever can outlast their competitors will be crowned the first winner of LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland and win a grand prize of €50,000 for their charity of choice.
The series will feature some of Ireland’s biggest and best comedic talent: Aisling Bea, Amy Huberman, David McSavage, Deirdre O’Kane and Jason Byrne.
The trailer provides an insight into some of the crazy antics that the comedians do to make the others laugh, with Graham Norton explaining the rules of the game. New cameos were also revealed, with Zig, Zag and Ray D’Arcy who make up The Den; the long-running Irish children’s television show. RTÉ journalist, Anne Doyle and singing duo, Jedward will also try to make the comedians laugh.
At the show’s launch Norton said, “I’m thrilled to be the host for the first Irish Original, LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland on Prime Video. I’m so proud of our comedy culture and it’s wonderful to have a platform to showcase Irish talent to a global audience.”
LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland is an adaptation of the successful Amazon Original series in Japan entitled Documental. The format became the most watched title of all time on Prime Video in Italy, France and Germany, and had hugely successful local versions in Mexico, Sweden, India, Spain, Canada, The Netherlands, Colombia, Brazil, and Australia where it’s hosted by Rebel Wilson.
