Fontaines D.C. have announced a surprise gig in London to celebrate the band’s newest album ‘Romance’.

The Irish band announced to their social media accounts yesterday that they will play a surprise intimate gig this Thursday, August 22nd, at London’s Electric Ballroom.

Tickets have already sold out but fans can sign up for the waiting list in case any tickets go back on sale.

‘Romance’ releases on Friday, August 23rd, and will be the band’s fourth studio album and their first release under their new label XL Records.

The Dublin rockstars recently released ‘Here’s The Thing’, one of the singles from the album along with ‘Starburster’ and ‘Favourite’. The next new single ‘In The Modern World’ will drop tomorrow, August 21st.

“we used to speak about ‘what kind of weather is it in this song?'”

In an interview with NME, frontman Grian Chatten described the recording of ‘Romance’: “We spoke a lot about visual references, films and stuff like that. I’m not even messing, but we used to speak about ‘what kind of weather is it in this song?’ We could meet on a plain that didn’t have anything to do with music, arrangements or instruments.”

“It’s more about abstractly getting to the right place. I think it’s more interesting to work in that way because you’re at less danger of sounding contrived or unoriginal.”

“To be creatively understood by too many people feels like flies settling all over your clothes,”

“To be creatively understood by too many people feels like flies settling all over your clothes and all over your face,” he added. “Every now and again you have to f***ing shake them off, just to see who you are again. That’s what we wanted to do.”

Elsewhere in the Interview Chatten spoke about his dream to collaborate with American singer Lana Del Ray. The guitarist and singer has long spoken about his admiration for Del Ray and will soon be performing at Reading & Leeds Festival on the same days as her.

“I’m going to muscle my way past security and pitch the living f*** out of our band to her!”

“I’m going to muscle my way past security and pitch the living f*** out of our band to her!” Chatten joked. “I’m going to bring all my Lana Del Rey records for her to sign as well.”

“No, I don’t really have any interest in pushing for anything in that kind of way. If it happens naturally, then it happens naturally,” he clarified. “It would just be nice for me as a fan.”
