Fontaines D.C have been forced to cancel several tour dates after frontman Grian Chatten suffered an injury, it was announced.

The band were due to perform several their next five shows across South America, But Chatten confirmed via Instagram stories that he suffered a herinated disc, and requires "urgent medical attention".

In a statement, Chatten said: “I am devastated to announce that, due to a herniated disc, we must cancel our show in Mexico tomorrow night and our forthcoming dates in Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia".

He added: “I have been really excited to play these beautiful countries for years and it really hurts to be here in Mexico City and not be able to go onstage, but I have been advised today, that I require urgent medical attention. We are very grateful for all your support and, with all my heart, I am sorry that I can’t play for you".

It would also appear that Fontaines D.C have no plans to reschedule these shows. At the time of writing, the band had made no announcements regarding re-fixing these cancelled dates.

Earlier this month, the Fontaines D.C had also won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for Album of the Year. They won this award for their album, Romance. More on this from Nova here.
