Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players band will boast members of Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age and more
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl recently announced the he would be rocking a live concert with a collection of the musicians featured in his “Sound City” documentary at next week’s Sundance Film Festival. Now, Grohl has revealed who will be a part of this legendary performance via a photo posted on the film’s Facebook page which shows the full list of players he’ll perform with as the Sound City Players.
Not surprisingly, all of the members of the Foo Fighters will be a part of the crew. Other musicians taking part include former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, Queens of the Stone Age‘s Alain Johannes, Fear frontman Lee Ving, Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk, Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, the Wallflowers keyboard player Rami Jaffee, John Fogerty, Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor, Rick Springfield, violinist Jessy Greene and producer Chris Goss.
The Sound City Players will take the stage Jan. 18 at Park City Live in Park City, Utah, same day the film premieres at the Sundance Film Festival.
“Sound City” chronicles the famed Sound City Studios, where a young Nirvana recorded their groundbreaking 1991 album, “Nevermind,” and countless other artists laid down tape. The documentary offers interviews and exclusive performances from musicians who have recorded at Sound City, including Rage Against the Machine’s Tim Commerford, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and more.
