Foo Fighters are to take legal action against former US President Donald Trump for using one of their tracks at a rally last week.
The band are take action against Trump, who is putting his name forward for the White House election this year.
This happened after Trump’s campaign used Foo Fighters’ hit ‘My Hero’, as he welcomed guest speaker Robert F Kennedy Jr to the stage at Glendale, Arizona last Friday (August 23).
Foo Fighters are on in a long line of household names who have taking umbrage with Donald Trump for using their material at his rallies, with the Estate of the late Sinéad O’Connor also calling out the former president for using ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ at at a rally earlier this year. Foo Fighters say “they would not have granted it”
Representatives speaking on behalf of Foo Fighters have said at no stage did Donald Trump seek permission to use their music for his campaign.
The band have said that legal action will be taken against Trump, with any damages awarded to Trump’s presidential rival and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
“Foo Fighters were not asked permission, and if they were, they would not have granted it,” adding that “appropriate actions are being taken” and any royalties received would be donated to the Harris/Walz campaign”, a spokesperson said.
Foo Fighters were also asked if they had ever given Trump permission to use their music via X, where they said “No”, before re-tweeting the question and adding “Let us be clear”.

The US Presidential election will take place in November, where the USA will elect its 47th president, with Trump aiming for a second spell in the White House, having served in the role from 2016 to 2020, losing out to current president Joe Biden, who will not stand in this election.
