Foreigner have confirmed that they will perform their farewell tour with multiple vocalists.
News of this comes in the wake of the announcement by frontman Kelly Hansen that he will not be joining the band for this tour, which sees them head across Canada, Mexico and South America over the next few months.
It was confirmed that Hansen would be replaced as vocalist by rhythm guitarist Luis Maldonado. with original singer Lou Gramm set for a guest appearance.
Foreigner will also be fronted by Broadway singer and actor Geordie Brown, who had previously performed with Foreigner in 2020, having been invited on stage by Kelly Hansen towards the end of their Ice Cold Ice tour in Halifax, NS.
"Some issues have forced me to limit appearances outside of the USA this year, and this means, unfortunately, I will miss Foreigner's South American run," Hansen had said previously. "However, our incredible bandmate Luis Maldonado has been recording some of our hits in Spanish and he will be handling most of the vocals along with Lou Gramm who will be guesting with Foreigner for those shows. I know they will smash it!".
This means that Foreigner will have been fronted by four different singers by the time this tour concludes.
Last year, the band's co founder Mick Jones had revealed that he had been battling Parkinson's Disease for "several years".
“Fans will have become very aware that for some time now, I have not been performing onstage with the band. Several years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I want everyone to know that I am doing alright,”, Jones wrote on social media at the time.
“However, I’ve always liked to be at my best when performing onstage, and sadly, at present, I find that a bit difficult. I am still very much involved in the background with Foreigner and remain a presence".
