A Garda has been treated in hospital after accidentally shooting himself in the foot.
The officer, who is specially trained in firearms, was injured by a single bullet in Limerick yesterday.
It's understood that the weapon was discharged while he was in a patrol car.
GSOC, the Garda watchdog, has confirmed it's been asked to investigate.
It is reported that the referral is under Section 102 of the Garda Siochana Act.
