Three teenage boys have been arrested following a vicious assault on a 15-year-old boy in Inchicore last weekend.
The Irish Independent reports gardai in Kilmainham suspenct the victim has been lured to the area by a girl before he was attacked by a gang of youths
The boy, from the Tallaght area, sustained horrific injuries including a broken leg, a broken arm and several broken ribs.
The arrested youths are from the locality in Inchicore and are by all accounts well known to officers.
They include two brothers and another teenage boy who have been released without charge after being detained for six hours today.
Detectives have established according to the Irish Independent that the motive for the attack was based merely and callously on “pure thuggery”.
A garda spokesman said “All three have since being released for consideration of inclusion in the Juvenile Diversion Programme”.
It is understood that the victim from Tallaght, who reportedly comes from a good family, is making a good recovery from his injuries and has provided gardai with a statement.
The chief suspects are a gang of yob teenagers who've wrecked havoc for months in the area with several muggings and attacks near the Luas Line along the Grand Canal.
