As a result of ongoing investigations targeting organised crime under Operation Tara, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau intercepted two vehicle shortly before 5pm in the Blanchardstown area of West Dublin on Thursday.
During the operation twenty kilos of cocaine valued at €1.4 million and €15,000 in cash was recovered and seized. Two men, aged 53 and 49 years were arrested under Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act in relation to facilitating and enhancing drug distribution activities for an organised crime group and are currently being detained at a Dublin Garda Station.
This seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris in July 2021.
The focus is to disrupt, dismantle, and prosecute drug trafficking networks at all levels involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale, and supply of controlled drugs.
