Gardaí are gearing up to deploy up a full-time public order unit. It's reported the unit will be in place by tomorrow.
The special unit will focus on patrolling at-risk locations and will endeavour to ensure the maintenance of law and order.
The unit will consist of 100 Gardaí, sergeants and inspectors, working a two-rota system of 12-hour shifts, Breaking News reports.
It's anticipated that the unit will be deployed by tomorrow afternoon.
Meanwhile, health professionals have issued a plea urging people to stay at home this St Patrick's Day.
