Gardaí are appealing for motorists to be extra vigilant amid a raft of fuel thefts across the country.
Last month, over 500 euros worth of diesel was taken from trucks parked up at a business park in Limerick.
While various incidents of home fuel theft were reported in Laois, Offaly, Galway, Limerick, Kilkenny, Wexford and Carlow.
Wexford TD and former President of the Irish Road Haulage Association Verona Murphy says the operations are becoming more sophisticated:
“Trucks today carry about 1,400 litres and the equipment has become so sophisticated they can empty a 1,400 litre fuel tank in minutes.
It is very important we secure our fuels.”
