The Government is set to approve a plan that will allow for the reopening of restaurants and gastro pubs over the Christmas period.
The final details of when they will be allowed open has yet to be agreed but the Government is looking at dates between December 4th and 11th.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin will announce new eased restrictions when he addresses the nation this evening.
Yesterday The National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet), called for gastro-pubs and restaurants to only operate on a takeaway and delivery service over the Christmas period.
Nphet also advised that a choice should be made between relaxing the rules on household visits and allowing the hospitality sector to reopen.
