A schoolgirl was mugged and brutally assaulted during an evening attack on a north Dublin DART service over the weekend.
A gang of four youths, two male and two female, reportedly dragged the girl off the train and onto the ground. They then prompted to kick and punch her in the head.
Dublin Live reports that the incident happened on Saturday around 7.30 pm at Howth Junction Station in Donaghmede.
The victim was left bleeding and had to be rushed to the hospital after the attack.
The assault is reported to have only stopped after the intervention of a DART driver who managed to fight off the hoodlums and get her back onto the train. A garda spokesman said via the media outlet:
“Gardaí are investigating an incident of assault of a minor at Howth Junction, Donaghmede, Dublin 13 on Saturday 30 November 2019 at approximately 7.30pm.
“No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.”
To date, over 210 reports of anti-social behaviour were reported on DART services.
That’s up on the past two years, when 190 incidents were reported.
