Glastonbury music festival has announced details of its annual talent competition for emerging artists.
The competition is open to artists of any genre based in Ireland or the UK with the winner receiving a performance slot on the main stage at this years festival. In addition to that, first place winners will also receive a £5000 Talent Development prize to fund their songwriting, recording and performances.
There is also two runner up prizes of £2500 each. Past winners of the prize include last year’s top entrant Declan McKenna, Scouting For Girls and Bridie Jackson and the Windy Arbours.
In order to enter the competition acts must share a link to one original song on Soundcloud and a link to a video of them performing live. The competition will run for one week between Monday January 18th and 5pm on Monday January 25th.
Festival co-organiser Emily Eavis said in the announcement on their website, “new music has always been a huge part of what we do at Glastonbury, and the Emerging Talent Competition has become an incredible way for us to discover – and help draw attention to – the very latest talent”.
