It’s been revealed that Glenn Frey‘s son Deacon is apparently joining the Eagles when they play the Classic East and Classic West music festivals this summer.
Don Henley confirmed in a recent interview with Dallas radio station KTCK, that Frey’s son will replace his late father when the reunited Eagles take the stage at the two festivals in July.
Henley said in the interview that he wasn’t supposed to say anything. But he then admitted, “There’s going to be an official announcement in a few days but let’s just do it here. Glenn’s son Deacon is a very talented young man, and he seems to be up for the task. He’s enthusiastic about it and he’s been working real hard on it, and he’s gonna do it with us. I think that’s appropriate.”
The legendary band is also set to team up with Fleetwood Mac this summer to hit both the east and west coat of the U.S.A. The mega-selling bands will perform as part of the aptly named festival, Classic East and Classic West. This partnership of the two multi-million record selling bands is what classic rock fans dreams are made of; set to take place in Citi Field in New York and Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles in July, organisers are hoping to make the festivals an annual event.
Both The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac have sold-out stadiums globally and with a vast catalog of music under there’s belts, Classic East and Classic West are set to be stellar affairs. If you’re over in the U.S this summer it would be a shame miss out on.
The new festival would mark the Eagles official return to the stage following the death of co –founder Glenn Frey.
In November, Don Henley opened up to the Washington Post about the band’s future and didn’t give fans much hope for any future gigs, ‘I don’t see how we could go out and play without the guy who started the band.”
Now, with the fitting tribute of Glen Frey’s son to the band’s line up it seems Henley is thankfully rethinking retirement.
