Existing Huawei users may be impacted by Google’s decision to block access to future devices once Android operating systems are updated.
Currently, the tech giant has confirmed that the ban on the use of apps like Google Maps and YouTube will apply to future devices.
It’s after US President Donald Trump blacklisted the Chinese company over fears of spying on American networks – which Huawei denies.
Connected Editor with the Sunday Business Post Emmet Ryan has stated existing Huawei users won’t be impacted until an Android update becomes available.
For Huawei users’ questions regarding our steps to comply w/ the recent US government actions: We assure you while we are complying with all US gov’t requirements, services like Google Play & security from Google Play Protect will keep functioning on your existing Huawei device.
