An iconic piece of music memorabilia which is owned by Beatles legend, Paul McCartney, is going under the hammer.
The instrument in question, the Hofner Bass is going up for auction at GottaHaveRockandRoll.com.
It was gifted to a music executive from the personal collection of the Beatles legend in the 1990s.
“Paul McCartney was here”
Included with this guitar is a photograph showing Paul McCartney playing this bass guitar, with a clear photo-match to the signature along the guitar’s body.
Signed off by the music icon, it reads, “Paul McCartney waz here”.
While this Hofner Bass was played for a left-handed guitar player, the instrument in fact was made for a right-handed musician.
Going up for sale on December 15, you can find out even more information on this here.
Earlier this month, Paul McCartney spoke of his amazement that a rock band such as Guns N’Roses would cover a track he produced with Wings in 1973.
The song titled, ‘Live And Let Die’, was written for the James Bond film of the same name, before being subsequently covered by Guns N’Roses almost two decades later.
Guns N’Roses released this track in 1991, featuring on their ‘Use Your Illusion I’ album.
Many people even mistaken this song for a Guns N’Roses hit, something which McCartney is proud of.
“I thought it was pretty good actually. I was more amazed that they would actually do it, this young American group”, McCartney said in a previous interview.
“The interesting thing was my kids would go to school and they would go, ‘My dad wrote that.’ They’d go, ‘No he didn’t, it was Guns N’ Roses,’ so nobody would ever believe them. For a while it was just Guns N’ Roses”.
