Kasabian have cancelled their concert at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre, after it emerged that their frontman Serge Pizzorno was diagnosed with laryngitis.
This show was part of the band’s tour of the UK and Ireland, having performed in Belfast’s Telegraph Building the night before (October 20).
“Belfast, you were beautiful, majestic and pure energy thank you to everyone that came, All the people on shoulders for L.S.F you’ve set the bench mark, unbelievable scenes”, Kasabian wrote.

Kasabian are scheduled to perform at several UK spots, including Manchester, London, Cardiff, Birmingham and Glasgow. They were also set to perform at Doncaster on October 31.
“totally devastated and apologise”
However, Kasabian have been forced to cancel their show in Dublin, following Pizzorno’s illness. They also urged fans to retain their tickets, as they will remain valid for the new date.
“We have bad news re tonight’s Dublin gig. Serge has been diagnosed with laryngitis this afternoon and we can’t go ahead”, the band said in a statement shared via Twitter.
“We’re totally devastated and apologise to everyone looking forward to the gig tonight”, they added. “Hang on to your tickets, we will have news on a new show date ASAP”.

The tour had been supporting Kasabian’s recent album ‘The Alchemist Euphoria’, which was released in August.
Tonight’s Dublin show was to mark Kasabian’s first appearance in the capital in five years.
Ahead of the release of that album, Kasabian also released their single ‘The Wall’.
“‘The Wall’” was written probably a year ago, maybe even longer. Originally, it was about having a hangover, so it started off a little bit as a joke, but it doesn’t mean that anymore”, Serge Pizzorno said in a statement at the time.
“It’s weird you start at one place in your head and then as you finish it and read it back you go ‘Actually no, you know what…’ It’s perfect for this album. You hit a fucking wall, but you get back up again”.
