Investigations into the murder of Eddie Hutch snr. in 2016 have advanced in the last six months, a senior Garda has told an inquest his Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch’s brother.
Inspector James Clavin has informed a sitting of Dublin District Coroner’s Court on Tuesday that there has been ongoing correspondence between gardaí and the office of the DPP since the case last came before the court six months ago.
In that previous hearing in March, the court heard that gardaí had sent a file relating to Mr Hutch’s killing to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
59-year-old Hutch, a taxi driver was shot and killed outside his home on Poplar Row in the north inner city on February 8th, 2016.
The murder of the father-of-five occurred just three days after an attack at the Regency Hotel, where Kinahan associate David Byrne, of Crumlin, was shot dead.
Inspector Clavin also asked the coroner Dr Clare Keane for a six-month adjournment, with criminal proceedings still being considered in case which was granted.
