Starting from today, December 1st, Irish rail customers are facing revised fares, with increases on certain routes.
The revised fares will see children under the age of five go free on all DART, Commuter and Intercity journeys, which will be a welcome change for parents.
"The Authority recognises that the cost of travel with a young family can be expensive and today’s move marks another step towards making sustainable transport a more affordable option for more families."

However, the National Transport Authority has said a range of fares will in fact see an increase of around 1.2%.
"Fares for mid-range journeys are to increase by about 5%. However, about 2/3 of those passengers can beat the increase by moving to Leap, which will still be cheaper than the current cash fare."
Intercity express 'single' fares will also be reduced, suspected to be making a 5% drop in a bid to improve value and reduce the differential between the Dublin Short Hop zone and Intercity zone.
Meanwhile, they have also confirmed the Cork commuter fare will see a reduction of up to 25% which will also include a more simplified structure.
