Rob Lowe has taken aim at California's low film industry incentives, stating that "it's cheaper to bring one hundred people to Ireland".
The US actor made these comments while speaking to former Parks and Recreation co star Adam Scott on a recent episode of his podcast, Literally! With Rob Lowe. He also explained why he films his game show, The Floor, in Dublin.
"It's cheaper to bring one hundred American people to Ireland than to walk across the lot at Fox, past the sound stages, and do it there", Lowe said. "There are no tax credits, so like, all those other places are offering 40%. And then on top of that, there's other stuff that they do".
He added: "And then, that's not even talking about union stuff. It's just tax, economics of it all, so it's criminal what California and LA have let happen - it's criminal. Everybody should be fired".
Elsewhere, Rob Lowe also claimed that "nothing shoots in Los Angeles" anymore, and wondered if Parks and Recreation would be filmed in Europe if it was being made today.
On the podcast, Adam Scott asked him: "Do you think if we shot 'Parks' right now, we'd be in Budapest?". To which Lowe replied: "One-hundred percent we would be. We'd be in Budapest".
Rob Lowe also plans to film an upcoming movie in Cork in the coming months.
The actors also expressed their mutual admiration for Dublin, with Lowe calling the city, "great", while Scott added that "it's beautiful".
