Blur’s Graham Coxon has claimed that the recently announced Oasis reunion is “good for them and it’s good for the fans”.
As co-founder and guitarist of Blur, Coxon and Oasis have a fairly chequered past, having squared up to each other as they fought for Brit pop supremacy throughout the 1990s.
Oasis famously split up in 2009 following a much publicised bust up between brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher.
However, it appears that the pair have mended fences, as they announced a major reunion tour for Oasis, which takes place next year. More on this from Nova here.
Coxon in favour of Oasis reunion
In a recent interview with The Sun, Graham Coxon has lauded the news regarding Oasis’ forthcoming reunion.
“It’s good for them and it’s good for fans,” he said. “I’ve been saying, ‘Just do it’”.
When asked if he had ever given Noel Gallagher a gentle nudge towards reuniting the band, Coxon replied: “God no, I wouldn’t have talked to him about that and it’s not really my business. I don’t know him well enough to say that”.
He added: “But hopefully it’s a genuine reunion because some bands break up and don’t get that chance again”.
Last month, it was confirmed that a West End play was to tell the story of when Blur and Oasis went toe to toe for the Number One chart spot in 1995. More on this here.
Earlier this week, Liam Gallagher said that he will not be doing any joint interviews with his brother Noel ahead of these reunion shows. Find out why here.
