An effigy of British MP Jacob Rees-Mogg’s languishing on the House of Commons front bench has been selected in a prize-winning arrangement of leeks.
“Jacob Leeks Mogg” shows the Tory MP and Leader of the House of Commons slouching in Parliament. That was while MPs debated Brexit earlier this month. The satirical leek sculpture won second prize in a competition at Newent Onion Fayre, England.

Mr Rees-Mogg’s lounge in the Commons received strong criticism and inspired a whole host of memes online. The MP was criticized for what was seen as the physical embodiment of arrogance, entitlement, disrespect and contempt for parliament.

Local Conservative MP Mark Harper saw the leek entry and the winning entry been widely shared on social media. The MP tweeted:
“Delighted to welcome @Jacob_Rees_Mogg to the Forest of Dean today where he made his incredibly popular debut appearance at the Newent Onion Fayre!”
According to the BBC Jacob Leeks Mogg was entered by Hester Feld in the show’s “Vegetable Character Over 17 Years” competition. Alas, the onion was beaten in first place by a pair of tortoises and snails made using spring onions and red onion slices.
