James Corden has offered a new update on the final episode of Gavin & Stacey.

The popular British sitcom which originally ran from 2007 to 2010, had confirmed that it would return for one final episode on Christmas Day.

At the time, TV host James Corden had confirmed this news on social media, sharing a photo of himself and co star Ruth Jones holding a script titled "Gavin and Stacey: The finale".

“Some news… It’s official!!! We have finished writing the last ever episode of Gavin and Stacey. See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James", Corden wrote. More on this here.

Corden Is "off to Barry Island"

Following the show's final episode, James Corden went on to host the Late Late Show in the US, before leaving the role last year.

Corden who recently finished off a theatre run at London's Old Vic, has said that he was "off to Barry Island".

Corden added that he would be returning to the seaside resort in the Vale of Glamorgan for "the next seven weeks".

Gavin & Stacey aired their last episode on 2019 with a Christmas special, which saw things left on a cliff-hanger, after Corden's character Smith received a proposal of marriage from his on/off girlfriend Nessa, played by Ruth Jones.

Jones had previously denied suggestions of a return for the sitcom, saying that they were "sadly just a rumour", comments which were also echoed by Welsh comedian Rob Brydon who plays Uncle Bryn.
