A new trailer for the upcoming Aretha Franklin biopic RESPECT has been revealed with Jennifer Hudson starring as Franklin.
Originally set for release in January 2021, the film will now be in Irish cinemas on September 10th 2021.
In the new trailer, you can get look at Marc Maron in the role of music producer Jerry Wexler, Mary J. Blige as Dinah Washington, and Forest Whitaker as Franklin’s father, the Reverend C.L. Franklin.
Director Liesl Tommy makes her feature film debut with RESPECT using a story by Callie Khouri (Oscar winner for Writing, Thelma & Louise) and Tracey Scott Wilson.
Following the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom, RESPECT is being labelled "the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice".
