Aiken Promotions has announced that Joe Bonamassa and his band will play two nights at the Marquee festival in Cork next July as a special celebration of the legendary Rory Gallagher.
In the years since the untimely death of Gallagher at just 47 years of age in June 1995, his stature as a guitar hero has become all pervasive.
A self-taught virtuoso, Gallagher was beloved even as he shunned the trappings of fame and stardom to became a universally acclaimed international star.
Gallagher performed over 2,000 concerts throughout his illustrious career connecting with audiences the length and breath of the globe.
Rory influenced Slash, Johnny Marr, U2’s The Edge, Queen’s Brian May, Manics’ frontman James Dean Bradfield to name but very few.
Tickets will be on sale this Friday, 4th October at 10am.
In aid of his hero Bonamassa will attempt to recreate the magic of Gallagher. The American has sold over 10 million records, earned twenty seven #1 Billboard Blues albums, three Grammy Nominations as well as thirteen Blues Music Award Nominations.
