Former Sex Pistols lead singer John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, recalled a bizarre meeting between his band and music icons, Abba from 1977.
In July 1977 to be precise, the Sex Pistols were embarking on their first Scandinavian tour, which included two shows each in Denmark and Norway, and eight shows in Sweden, which saw them play two nights at Stockholm's Happy House club.
While they were struggling to secure live shows on their home turf due to their controversial reputation, the punk rockers managed to secure this tour, which saw their then bassist, Sid Vicious meet his favourite meeting, Abba.
Along with Vicious, Glen Matlock who had previously served as bassist for the Pistols, had been inspired to write the bass line for the band's track 'Pretty Vacant', after hearing Abba's SOS.
A Norwegian journalist had even remarked that the Pistols listened to nothing, but Abba.
"They had one cassette and it was ABBA," she said. "They played it 24/7, all the time".
In his interview, John Lydon spoke about the time that the Pistols met up with Abba at a Swedish airport.
"We’d been drinking all day in Scandinavia because flights were cancelled but Sid couldn’t handle alcohol", Lydon explained.
He continued: "As soon as he’d seen Abba, all in matching white fur coats, looking like polar bears, he went running over. ‘Abba!’ Then he vomited".
"They were horrified", he added. "I think we got carted off. There was a police wagon involved".
Sid Vicious died in February 1978.
Back in February, John Lydon aimed a dig at US singer Taylor Swift, calling her "incredibly dull". More on this from Nova here.
Previously, Sex Pistols' Steve Jones said that the band had plans to perform a major US tour with Frank Carter. More on this Nova story here.
