Jon Bon Jovi has admitted that his health will determine whether or not he will tour again.
The singer revealed this in a recent interview, where he spoke about the band’s touring future.
Bon Jovi recently announced the release of their new album ‘Forever’, which will arrive in June, as they celebrate the 40th anniversary as a band.
“This record is a return to joy. From the writing, through the recording process, this is turn up the volume, feel good Bon Jovi”, they said of the album.
The band had even previewed the album with the new single ‘Legendary’. Check that out and Nova’s report on this here.
“still recovering”
In his interview, Jon Bon Jovi spoke about the band’s touring future, admitting that his health would be the deciding factor in whether or not he returns to the stage.
In 2022, Bon Jovi underwent vocal chord medicalisation, a procedure to help repair his voice to its proper function.
“I don’t know about a tour”, he said. “It is my desire to do a tour next year, but I’m still recovering from a major surgery”.
He continued, “Although I’m well on the road to recovery and was able to take my time and do a song a day when I made the record, my need, want, desire is to be able to do two-and-a-half hours a night four nights a week for months on end,” Bon Jovi explained regarding his hopes to tour. “And so I’m working towards that goal”.
Elsewhere, the singer was also asked if he would consider a U2-style residency at a Vegas sphere, a ground breaking moment for live music.
“I was there on opening night and of course that’s the first thing that goes through your mind, ‘How would I present this?’”, Bon Jovi explained.
“otherworldly”
Describing the experience as “otherworldly”, he added, “It was incredible. But I was like, ‘Wow, how do I even wrap my arms around this? And how much time would it take to develop all this, to capture something that would be worthy that could follow this incredible production?’”
However, Bon Jovi conceded that a sphere would probably not work for his band.
“I don’t see, necessarily, how I could pull that one off,” he stated. “And I thought about it. I have thought about it. Because I was asked to do it second to them. And Bono and I have a lot of the same physical traits, vocally”.
Bon Jovi have also confirmed that a new docu-series about the band is to air next month. More here.
