It appears that Joni Mitchell is set to end her 20 year hiatus from the stage this weekend.

The legendary singer who has not been spotted on stage since 2007, has also had several health issues to contend with in that time, including suffering a brain aneuryism in 2015.

However last year, Mitchell ended her hiatus to appear at the Newport Folk Festival, arriving as a surprise guest for a major 13 song set alongside the likes of Marcus Mumford, Celisse and Brandi Carlile as part of a show titled, 'Brandi Carlile and Friends'.

"But clouds got in my way"

The show saw Mitchell perform a mix of classic tracks, including 'Both Sides Now', 'A Case Of You' among others.

Mitchell's performance of 'A Case Of You', was particularly poignant when you hear the following lyrics,  “So many things I would have done,” Mitchell sang, “But clouds got in my way”.

You can check this out for yourselves below.

"this is enormous"

Following this, Joni Mitchell will perform at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, Washington, which will once again see the singer share a stage with Carlile.

“No one’s been able to buy a ticket to see Joni Mitchell play in 20 years – so this is enormous", Mitchell said in a statement.

The show will also include a range of musicians and collaborators.

Last August, Mitchell also received an honorary doctorate from the Berklee college of music.

She was described as Berklee's president Erica Muhl as “a force for change in the industry, blazing the trail for women in music with an unwavering commitment to achieving the status rightfully due her as one of the world’s great musical artists”.
