Fans have been left outraged as Journey cancels their 50th Anniversary tour in the UK and Ireland.
In a statement released yesterday, the ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ band said: “Due to circumstances beyond the band’s control, Journey’s UK and Ireland tour is unfortunately cancelled.” It added, “Refunds will be made from your point of purchase.”
The band was set to embark on the UK and Irish leg of their ‘Freedom Tour’ with Cheap Trick this autumn, stopping in 11 places including Dublin’s 3Arena. The 70s rock stars had already completed the US leg of the tour in 2023.
Fans were ecstatic as it had been over 10 years since the band last performed in the UK and Ireland.
While the reason for the last minute cancellation is unknown, the decision has come about following a lawsuit between two of the bands members.
Just last week, keyboardist and rhythm-guitarist Jonathan Cain filed a lawsuit against his bandmate Neal Schon for allegedly over-spending the band’s finances on their US tour.
According to Bloomberg Law, Cain claims that Schon had exceeded agreed-upon spending limits for accommodation and travel, booking lavish hotel suites and chartering private jets.
The lawsuit also alleges that Schon had repeatedly tried to block the band’s attempts to pay off debts.
