The judge overseeing Conor McGregor’s civil rape case has stated he is “perfectly content” with the MMA fighter’s sworn statements regarding CCTV footage presented during the legal proceedings.
The case relates to a successful lawsuit brought by Nikita Hand against McGregor, during which CCTV footage was shown to the jury.
Ms. Hand’s legal team sought an injunction to prevent the footage from being shared or published after concerns arose that it might be leaked online.
These concerns were triggered by a social media post from a business associate of McGregor, leading Ms. Hand to fear that the confidential courtroom evidence could be publicly circulated. In response, Judge J. Alex Owens directed McGregor not to share the footage and to delete any copies from his personal devices.
McGregor provided a sworn affidavit in which he assured the court that he had not distributed the footage to anyone and had fully complied with the judge’s directive. However, Ms. Hand’s legal team questioned the sincerity of McGregor’s assurances and applied for a permanent order to enforce compliance.
McGregor’s legal counsel rejected this request, arguing that there was no legal basis for such an order. They accused the opposing side of attempting to prolong the controversy unnecessarily.
Ultimately, Judge Owens ruled that an injunction was unnecessary, stating he was satisfied with McGregor’s sworn statements and that there was no indication of non-compliance.
