Deep Purple release ‘Vincent Price’

Deep Purple pay homage to old Hollywood black and white horror film in their new music video. Vampires, mummies, Frankenstein’s monster and a pole-dancing nun all make an appearance, as does the band as waxwork figures.

The single is taken from the band's latest album Now What?! The record, produced by Bob Ezrin, is a self-confessed favourite of bassist Roger Glover.

"I’ve been playing it myself for pleasure because I love the mix,” he says. "I love what we did. I’m proud of the record. It’s very difficult to come up with something that’s fresh and new, yet still retains the character of who you are and who you have been for the last 40-odd years. I hope we’ve achieved that."

Noel Gallagher wins a Novello

Songwriter picks up award for "Outstanding song Collection"

The award was presented to him by Kinks singer Ray Davies. Gallagher then thanked "my publishers, who I've only just met after 20 years – Sony, apparently," causing the audience to break out into laughter.

He dedicated the award to his wife, who, he said, once told him she'd never seen him write any songs. "This is proof that I do," the musician replied.

When questioned on the red carpet as to why he wanted to attend the ceremony, Gallagher stated that it was "Because they don't let clowns like One Direction in, so it must be a good one."

‘Bill Ward couldn’t cut it” says Ozzy

0

The frontman claims the band's former drummer couldn't remember what to do.

Speaking to Mojo, Osbourne claims that "We looked at Bill, and he couldn't remember what the f**k we were doing. But he didn't come clean and say, 'I can't cut this gig, but can we work something out, guys, where I'll come on but with another drummer backing me up?' Or, 'I'll come and play a few songs.' That would have been cool."

"You know them yellow f***ing stick-on memo notes? He had them all over his f***ing drums," continues Osbourne. "I was like, 'What the f**k's that for, Bill?' He said, 'I can't remember what I'm doing.' I go, 'How are you gonna remember out of those 500,000 bits of paper stuck all over your kit, which one you're looking at, Bill?'"

Sabbath recently announced a series of UK arena dates in December 2013, which will kick off at London's O2 Arena on December 12th, finishing with a homecoming date at Birmingham’s LG Arena on December 20th.

Smashing Pumpkins cover ‘Space Oddity’

0

Band tackle the Bowie classic at this year's SXSW.

The group's performance is taken from their Guitar Centre Sessions show, which will be aired in full on DirectTV on May 17th.

This is the second Bowie cover to surface this week, as astronaut Chris Hadfield has become the first man to record a music video in space, when he recorded the song aboard the International Space Station.

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan revealed in March that the band have begun work on a new record. "I'm starting to write new songs for the next Pumpkins album" stated Corgan. "I got a lot going on. I have a title for the next album but I won't tell. It’s going to be a cruel record. Vengeance is mine."

Smashing Pumpkins will play three UK tour dates later this year, starting in Manchester on July 1st, then performing in Glasgow on July 2nd before returning later in the month for their London gig on July 22nd.
