The Libertines are to feature in their own documentary for BBC Four.
The band confirmed the news on Twitter last night and it looks like they’ll need some help from their fans.
“The folks at @BBCFOUR are putting together a doc and they need your help! E-mail [email protected] to get involved!”, the tweet reads.
The group, who formed in 1977, will celebrate their 20th anniversary next year – this possibly being the reason or theme behind the project. The band also featured in Roger Sargent’s 2011 documentary There Are No Innocent Bystanders.
Further in depth details are yet to be announced of the documentary.
Meanwhile, Trampolene have released a new mini album which features track “To Be A Libertine”. Frontman Jack Jones, penned the poem while on tour with The Libertines. He had been homeless before the band asked him to open for their tour.
Speaking of how the opportunity arose, Jones told NME, “I first did it in Cardiff, the boys asked me to come and do it and it went so well they asked me to do the rest of the tour. They’d both seen the videos and heard the poems and thought it was cool”.
He also spoke of the support the band provided, “Carl gave me a leather jacket and Pete heard that I was homeless, living in the van so any money I had I could use to pay for rehearsals or recording, and Peter heard that our van had broken down and died and he offered me his camper van!”.
Jones’ band Trampolene have come along way since – their mini-album Pocket Album Four is available now.
