The Killers’ original guitarist, Dave Keuning was absent at the band’s recent tour, choosing to pay attention to his solo work instead.
According to Consequence of Sound, the fruits of his labour has resulted in his debut LP, Prismism. The release sees Keuning working with his love of keyboards as he takes on the role of frontman. Prismism will be released on January 25th, 2019. Accompanying the announcement is Prismism’s lead single, “Restless Legs”. It’s available below.
Keuning was the main musician on nearly every instrument on the 14-song record. According to a press release the album was realised after recording, “hundreds of voice memos that he stockpiled while on tour with The Killers over the last decade.”
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Keuning explained, “This record shows sides of me that maybe people haven’t had a chance to see before. Like, they may not have known I had all these keyboard riffs hidden away. But now I’ve finally gotten them out.”
In the single, we hear Keuning’s keyboard love mixed with a bright sparkly melody that is reminiscent of The Killers at their most exuberant. Russell Sheaffer directed the song’s clever video with it’s MTV heyday like animation.
Keuning will tour next month for a few dates in support of the new album. Check out his itinerary below.
